The CBOC Executive Leadership Team sets the center’s strategic vision with support from Subject Matter Advisors. The Operations and Website Development teams deliver on this vision with guidance from the CBOC Executive Leadership Team.

The Community Building and Outreach Center is building a wide-reaching stakeholder community. They do this by understanding end-user needs and deepening relationships with stakeholders. The community can contribute to Sentinel via direct public-private collaboration. For this, the Community Building and Outreach Center will leverage an open innovation model. This will advance the study of drug safety and effectiveness. It also contributes to public health more broadly.

The Community Building and Outreach Center interfaces with the public. This may be through the Sentinel website or public events. The Community Building and Outreach Center provides:

  • Training on the Sentinel System
  • Guidance on how Sentinel can support an individual or organization’s work
  • Outreach to better understand the needs of end users

The Community Building and Outreach Center works to better understand the community's needs. The Community Building and Outreach Center does this by:

  • Developing and executing scientific challenges
  • Gathering input from the public using public forums
  • Conducting targeted interviews

This will grow and develop Sentinel as a whole.

The Community Building and Outreach Center created the CBOC Master Plan to advance FDA’s strategic vision of creating a more robust Sentinel community with deep and diverse partnerships. This document outlines a set of projects that will help build a community around a common purpose: to advance the Sentinel System’s capabilities by broadening its scientific collaborations, identifying new use cases, and capitalizing on innovative technologies.

The Master Plan identifies stakeholder priorities, describes the action plan, and proposes ways to evaluate project impact. It will be updated regularly by the CBOC with direction from FDA and Sentinel leadership.
