|Project Title||Modular Program 6: Frequency and Duration of Treatment Following an Event of Interest|
Wednesday, June 11, 2014
Mini-Sentinel modular programs (MPs) are SAS programs designed to run against the Mini-Sentinel Common Data Model (MSCDM). They allow rapid implementation of standard queries across the Mini-Sentinel Distributed Database (MSDD). The programs can be customized using various input parameters that define medical product exposures, diagnoses, date ranges, age ranges, and other implementation details. Output contains summary-level counts (e.g., number of members exposed, number of members with a specific diagnosis/condition) stratified by various parameters (e.g., age group, sex, year). It also includes metrics on denominators and eligible member days associated with each result stratum, allowing for the calculation of proportions and rates.
Modular Program #6 characterizes the occurrence of events of interest (defined using the MSCDM procedure, diagnosis, dispensing, and/or laboratory tables), and examines the frequency and duration of subsequent treatment with specified medical products of interest (defined using the MSCDM procedure, diagnosis, dispensing, and/or laboratory tables). Example: the number of members treated with a statin following incident diagnosis of stroke by age group, sex, and year. Metrics on the time to statin treatment and treatment duration are also provided. Cohort can be restricted to members with or without pre-existing condition(s).
Functionality of retired modular programs 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, and 9 has been integrated into the routine querying system. Click here for more information.
The Modular Program #6 Input Form is an Excel spreadsheet. If you do not have Excel, click here to obtain a free version of Microsoft’s Excel Viewer.
