The Sentinel Query Builder is a web application which allows users to visualize, draft, and create medical product utilization queries with a user-friendly interface from a set of pre-defined parameters and convert them into Sentinel query request packages. When a user completes their parameter value selections, the Query Builder exports the query in JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) format, which can be converted directly into a Sentinel query request package. This package is a suite of SAS® programs corresponding to the user-defined parameter values. A SAS software license is required to convert the query in JSON format into a Sentinel query request package. Once converted, the package can be run on any data in SAS dataset format that has been transformed into the Sentinel Common Data Model. If you would like use the Sentinel Query Builder but don't have access to a dataset in the Sentinel Common Data Model, Sentinel has made public the CMS 2008-2010 Data Entrepreneurs’ Synthetic Public Use Files (SynPUFs) in the Sentinel Common Data Model format.
