    Description

In this analysis, we described characteristics of individuals with type 1 diabetes by chronic kidney disease (CKD) stage in the Sentinel Distributed Database (SDD). We identified individuals with prevalent use of short/rapid-acting insulin who had evidence of type 1 diabetes with chronic kidney disease stage 1 or 2 (comparison group), stage 3 (exposure group), or stage 4 or 5 (exposure group). CKD stage was assigned using diagnosis, procedure, and drug codes based on a previously validated algorithm1 . We also evaluated the association between CKD stage and diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA).

The study period includes data from March 1, 2013 to February 29, 2024. We distributed this request to six Sentinel Data Partners on November 21, 2024.

The analytic package associated with this analysis can be found externally in Sentinel's Git Repository located here. The Git Repository serves as Sentinel's version control tracking system for analytic packages and technical documentation.
