Sentinel as a National Resource

The Sentinel System's tools and common data model have been leveraged by many investigators, including those from academia, industry, other research networks, and other federal agencies. Sentinel’s publicly available resources have helped these researchers conduct a wide variety of studies, showing how Sentinel has accelerated important scientific work beyond drug safety. Below, we list publications that describe how Sentinel has contributed to advancing science and public health. We encourage authors who have leveraged Sentinel’s tools and common data model to contact us to add their publications below.

Incidence of Latent Tuberculosis Infection: A Descriptive Analysis

In this report we describe baseline and post-index characteristics of patients diagnosed and treated for latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) or tuberculosis (TB), estimated time from LTBI or TB diagnosis to treatment, time from LTBI or TB test to treatment, and time from LTBI diagnosis to TB diagnosis in the Sentinel Distributed Database. The study period spanned from January 1, 2008 to December 31, 2019. We distributed this request to 16 Data Partners on June 30, 2020.
