    Description

Lyme disease can be prevented by taking one dose of doxycycline (200 mg or 4.4 mg/kg for persons <45 kg) when administered within 72 hours after a high‐risk tick bite. To shed light on patterns of Lyme disease post‐exposure prophylaxis (PEP) in the United States, we characterized the frequency and patterns of single dose doxycycline over time, and described characteristics of individuals with these dispensings in the Sentinel Distributed Database (SDD).

This a follow up to a previous analysis to update the study period and incorporate patients with Medicaid coverage. This analysis contains three reports:

    • Report 1 contains patients with Medicaid coverage.
    • Report 2 contains patients with claims coverage.
    • Report 3 contains patients with Medicaid coverage and claims coverage.

The study period includes data from January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2020. We distributed this request to five Sentinel Data Partners on December 2, 2024.
